Abstract:

Different approaches to the word meaning analysis are discussed. Transition from the logical analysis of meaning to the integrative approach to it is traced. The word meaning is treated as the interface between the society and the individual, between linear and discreet linguistic items and nonlinear live multimodal hypertext as the enormous net connecting product of perceptive-cognitive-affective information processing, formed by personal adaptive activity.

Keywords:
word meaning, integrative approach, interfacial theory of meaning, live multimodal hypertext, inferential knowledg
