Abstract: 

The author considers the methods of language game as a mechanism of influence on the addressee (reader) in order to change of the reader’s ideas of reality. On the basis of texts of newspaper publications the actual linguistic processes connected with semantic transformations and semantic hints while playing up case-words and expressions are characterized. Pragmatic functions of language game methods in the newspaper publication are established; illocutinary forces of these mechanisms influencing the addressee are defined. Applied aspects of research of the language game are considered on the example of linguistic examination of newspaper publications at the solution of legal issues.
